Technology

Technology has been a huge help in this group project. The group page has made communication very easy. I can send anyone a message very easily. This makes it more efficient to communicate with my group members.
I think that the best thing about the group page has been the file exchange. It is so easy to upload a file, and then let everyone access it. This saves time over actually sending everyone a message individually with the attachment. Another bonus to this is that you can access it anywhere- you dont have to be on your computer
I cannot think of any negatives to this form of communication we have used.

Mis communication

I worked as a car stereo installer at circuit city a few years ago. During this time period, I experienced mis communication errors quite often. This usually was a result of the salesmen not communicating what was to be done to the car on paper. The biggest mistake however, was a very large sale that I had made. The customer had purchased 2 different sets of speakers one to be installed in the front, and the other in the back. For some unknown reason they had a preference. I was going to do the install, but ended up getting caught up on another vehicle. The installer put the speakers in the wrong spots unknowingly. Everything functioned fine, but to the customer it was the end of the world. The lady literally broke down in tears and had a breakdown, even though I told her it wouldn't take more then thirty minute to fix the problem.

This communication error could have been solved if I had properly wrote down on the work order what was to be done. Since I thought I was going to do the install however, it was not. In the end everything was worked out, and I was able to see how truly crazy customers can get when things are not 100%.

Cover Letters

When it comes to cover letters, I do not know all that much.I feel that From collegegrad.com I can use a lot of their information to help me when I graduate.

One thing that I dont like was the postscript technique. I think that this makes you come off a little to enthusiastic. I think that you should try to be me smooth about adding interesting facts to your CV, so that it flows better. By saying PS it is not professional.

I did not know a CV had to be so large. I thought it was between 1 and 2 sentences, but know different now. I also learned the proper format, of the three paragraphs.

Three Presentations

The three presentations that I enjoyed the most were the one on salt water fishing, Asian stereotypes, and the one on our state dog.
I have been wanting to saltwater fishing for quite some time now, so the fact that I got some insight on it was great. The pictures truly helped out with the presentation as well. For the Asian stereotypes presentation, it was very funny. I had never known that South Carolina has a state dog.
It was a great idea to bring the actual dog into class, as it truly strengthened the presentation. In general all of the youtube videos helped as well for everyones presentation.

Blog

Unfortunately I got mixed up in the dates, and wrote this weeks blog last week.

I will write about last weeks here-

I think that I agree with the job interview mistakes quite well. I think that asking about the follow up would be very important, and probably is missed often, as it seems intrusive to ask. I personally would have a hard time asking someone, OK what do I do now, as I would fear that maybe they are not interested. My last job interview was quite some time ago, and I remember I felt pretty confident going in. The question that hung me up was when I was asked about what are my weaknesses. I was not prepared for such a question at all, and it truly showed. Another question I was asked was explain a time when you did well in a group setting. This one really stumped me.
I think the best way to prepare for a job interview, is to look up on the companies website a lot of information about the jobs offered, locations, beliefs in the company, and other tidbits. Also making sure that you know the industry is very important as well. I liked how we went over common tough questions, and it allows me to mentally prepare what to say if asked these questions.

As the group project continues on, I have confidence in our group to do well. We have a dynamic group, that seems to have no issues cooperating. We have not truly spoken of ideas yet however, as we are first going to listen to the clients needs, and then go from there. We do plan on using graphic designs though to enhance projects visual appeal. Our teammates are mostly business majors, so that will be a help for the marketing aspect of the project.
For the presentation of the project, I am not sure exactly what we are to do. Are we going to be doing a full out in class presentation, or do we create a video of some sorts? How will we be graded upon this? Will we have a team member argue for our grade solely, or does your input have a determining factor on the grade?

Free Post-

I have no clue what to blog about, so I brainstormed in my head current things that I need to do. A pressing issue for me is what to do this summer. I am faced with the dilemma of working, interning, or going to class. If I work, I would be able to have the most fun, as it would just be a part time job and I would have a lot of free time. If I intern, it may not be a paid position, and I would have to focus more on that. Taking classes would be a good choice, because I would then be able to graduate on time assuming I pack my schedule the following two semesters. I have to figure this out soon, to ensure whatever I do, works out right.
